Jay Harris – Soundscape Composer

Jay Harris is a soundscape composer who creates soundscapes for events as well as creating sound design and composing music.  He is based in London, UK. A Soundscape is an audio atmosphere that is real or imagined and will amplify any message as well as intensify experiential events.

Soundscape and music:

The glue that holds together any project that involves an experience of any kind.  Such an experience could be entertainment such as film or more business-focussed such as events and experiential branding.  Treating sound and music in this way will complete the all-encompassing communication of the atmosphere and image you want to create.

Soundscapes and Events:

As a soundscape composer creating soundscapes for events, I make projects stand out by creating a unique audio atmosphere that embodies branding. A soundscape could be bolstered further by integrating interactivity and/or interesting delivery. Such a delivery could use  wireless headphones, hidden speakers or smartphone internet.  It could even include interactive sensors or production of sound that doesn’t involve a speaker or an instrument!

Past Projects:

Past projects as a soundscape composer include soundscape installations for the London Bubble theatre company in collaboration with Lewisham Council and conceptual soundscape for Azanaya (Jakarta.) The latter work featured in an event attended by the Indonesian national press and the Indonesian Minister for Culture and Tourism.  My work in sound design for film includes ‘Seeds of Freedom’ produced by the Gaia Foundation and narrated by Jeremy Irons.
