Thursday 8th April

Just on my usual work walk to Canada Water tube and it’s a lovely spring morning. Nice clear air and lots of bird song… Something some people don’t believe happens in London!

Yesterday’s song mixing didn’t go too well really, the song I’m going to get assesed at the Songwriters Guild sounded great until the afternoon.. The verse sounds too hurried and it’s kinda unsettling. It’s a problem that some thought I had with a Henry Spencer Project song so I’m thinking something must be up with the way I do things sometimes. I’ll be looking at the beat first to sort that so hopefully it’ll get sorted! My Mac crashed again last night too so I may have to return the new RAM I bought too…

On the upside I think I sorted a continueing problem with my new BFD2 drum software! It has been becoming unusable due to an apparent lack of CPU power. Determined as ever I wouldn’t let it beat me so after some suggestions on the Fxpansion forums (the makers of BFD2) not helping I checked out the Sound On Sound forum regarding the Apple G5. It turns out that contrary to popular belief the Mac may need fairly regular maintenance and after performing some tasks recommended here. It now seems to be running 90% smoothly! Follow the link for some great advice on getting the best out of your Apple Mac computer!

Also, Fruit Tree played a cracking gig again last Sunday. Kinasis were particulary good so I managed to get a free Cd after we played our set. Nice!

Fruit Tree are now in Debate about how we promote the band more. Our singer is reluctant to promote the band’s first album, ‘Sunset’, too much as she feels it is not represntative of our sound. I’m thinking that getting our name out there can only be a good thing.. . We should be getting a merch man to help us sell our wares at gigs though and will be paying them in beer so if anyone is interested get in touch… Finally, we are using some of our gig money this saturday to get some preoffesional photos taken at Hampsted Heath, should be fun!

Transient Update

You may or may not know that a couple of our musical projects kinda died last year.  Yeah, sad isn’t it  but before you reach for the tissue box be consoled by the fact that some new and improved things are rising out of the ashes of the dearly departed!

Firstly, Finding Luna are now called Rising Lunar and can be found at http://www.Myspace.com/LunarRising where there are re-recordings of a couple of oldies as well as some new songs!  Dominique Allan is the new ultra-talented singer and we are currently waiting for our new piano/synth guy to finish touring with his folk band so we can finish off the songs.  In the meantime Dom and myself will be playing at some open mic nights in London so if you are about please do come down and have a beer or ten with us.  I will keep you posted on dates/venues.

Secondly, yeah Ephemeral bit the dust I’m afraid! but the downloads are still available on the site.  However, a new much improved project is currently under construction.  It will still be funky but loads more sophisticated… there is no name as yet though so please email me some suggestions and if we pick yours I may even buy you a beer or two! Cool eh.

Lastly, Fruit Tree have been recording their new EP and there are even rumors of getting the band together to do some gigs sometime this year (band members are either now mums or travelling the world…and I think one is still unsure of his identity after a pretty heavy night on the vodka six months ago…  You can still download their older songs from the site though and if you want to order the full album Sunset… please let me know.  We get double the money for it if you buy direct from us rather than through the shops!

There are also some other exciting plans on the horizon that we will be working hard towards but let’s not overload you all with information, it’s a Sunday and who wants to think on a Sunday…  Relax and go listen to the new Lunar RIsing song instead….

1st Fruit Tree Album, ‘Sunset’ now available!

Hi everyone,

Yeah, the metal band I’m in are formally ‘releasing’ their 1st album again!  It was originally issued by the shysters at Casket Records (well, our contact Jose was the shyster really) and don’t be scared by the fact I said ‘metal band’….the music really isn’t that scary at all…in fact it’s melodic, female vocal lead atmospheric stuff…even my mum confessed to liking a couple of songs…erm…should I have said that…?

Well, don’t take my word for it…or my mum’s…Check out these reviews…
